Pathetic Update

I have to get a post on the go soon. I have so much to talk about ...

Our Hillary Duff concert, well worth the money
Joeye's impecable timing on learning how scoot around forward on the floor
Wishing and wishing for a Snow Day .. but ahh still no snow yet **cross your fingers**

Also a big ol' welcome to everyone .. wow look at what I started eh. I could not believe the list of blogs Heather has on her site. As soon as I update I will be getting right on top of adding all those links.

So much to say, so little time!

Are earmuffs really that bad?

Why is my baby so scared of earmuffs? I know they are out of style, but it's not like she's really up-to-date with the trends, but for some reason every time we'd put on the earmuffs she'd scream and yell and cry ... now if she even so much as sees the earmuffs she starts crying? A fear earmuff .. Muffphobia? I would hate to see her reaction to leg warmers, especially after Aprils reaction to them!

Just keep movin'

It seems like as long as I keep busy I really don't have much time to dwell on the situation at hand and let me tell you trying to single-handedly take care of a house with three girls in it will certainly keep you going.

I got a little crazy and made a roast in the crockpot, added some potatoes, attempted a gravy and everything but the gravy turned out great. The gravy really didn't have much taste at all. Oh well, I've asked around and I have some ideas for next time. I am just happy with the fact that we are eating home on a regular basis .. like eating stuff we are cooking ourselves.

We finally got some snow. It was a good thing Kelsey was there to help me do the driveway or we would have never got out in time to get them to the bus for school. Good thinking on JJ's part .. he bought us all our own shovels before he left.

Joeye is turning into a real ham these days. Her tooth has finally popped out on the bottom, which explains a lot of her very contrary behaviour, and to think I just thought it was the Ingram blood .. haha .. contrary like her father! Nope we can finally use teething as a real excuse. Also I was trying to play peek-a-boo with her on the side of the playpen as we always do and all of a sudden someone peeked down at me and you could tell she was thinking .. "I knew you weren't going very far mom, I knew you were down there all along". She's very proud of herself for figuring this out ... it seems so mean to take the bassinet insert out, now that she's just figured it out though!

So we're surviving okay. Well certainly better than I would have predicted. I made stew in the crockpot .. Woohoo I made supper without using the phone. I even made mashed potatoes for Joeye. I have to tell you though, I don't think I quite realized how much work was involved in JJ's half of the chores. Well I do now!

So a big thing for JJ and I when he goes to sea is that he complains that he gets no weekend emails. I'm really not sure why or how, I seem think it must be because we didn't have this computer, I'm not sure though really. Anyway so my little fingers have been emailing away, a couple of times a day. Each time adding pics of Joeye taken as I was emailing, then I checked my junk folder today thinking I would purge everything and there they were .. all the emails I had attached pictures to go sent back. It looks as if the boat will be returning all messages with pictures attached. Here I thought I was doing so good sending off all those emails. Needless to say I forward the emails that came back so when JJ checks his mail on his next watch he should have atleast five or six emails in there. So I'm going to put the pics up on here and hopefully he can come here and check them out.

Here we are wall climbing the weekend before we left.

Ohh and this is the one where her face has the red spots from goodness knows what .. although I think it might just be from drooling all the time

So off to go figure out how to make chili, I bought like a bunch of stuff to put in it but I think I might be missing spices or flavouring or something. I mean what makes it actually taste like chili?

Well his departure this morning actually went a little smoother than I had anticipated. Yes there was definetly some hugs and tears, but I showed restraint and did not throw myself in front of the cab like I had planned all along. So now it's just a matter of getting into our groove. There's always that short adjustment period where I have to do all the cooking and housework .. but atleast I can stop watching hockey games and spend more time watching The Bachelor!!!

I'll be back to update soon ... Thanks to Henry I will be soon adding a link to go right to short videos for you JJ.

One day left and then finally we can get this show on the road and start counting the days until JJ comes home again. I have to tell you this is one part of military life I could truly do without.

So I'll be back bloggin soon I promise, right now we are just trying to stay strong and hold on until that final walk away moment. Uhh I hate that moment worst of all, he walks away, stops and looks back, then you cry for ten minutes and then you move on and get back into the routine of being a single parent. I will miss having him around terribly because well nobody else finds me half as funny as he does, actually nobody else finds me funny at all.

Back to getting ready. I think we are prepared. We have baby gates up all over the house, I have a storm kit in the basement and JJ bought us each our own shovel ... let's pray it doesn't snow much!

I will get back on in a few days and talk of all my plans. I've decided to try my hand at scrapbooking, cooking just made too many dishes to clean. The girls swimming starts back up on the weekend and I'm flying JJ's mom in for a couple of weeks in March to lend me hand with the rugrats. I'm hoping the busier I am the faster time will pass .. that's the plan anyway!

This year we partied at Amy's, it was basically her turn to cook. We all had a blast, it was a great way to ring in the new year ... family, friends, a few drinks and a game of Cranium, what else could we possibly ask for?

Amy served us some great snacks and chocolate martinis

Lots of exciting stuff will be happening over the new year. Our MacAulay clan is coming from the West how exciting! They are coming down for a visit and for "the wedding of the year" (no pressure guys), but also the new year brings JJ's Nato trip. We've been stocking up on wood incase of power outages, putting up gates on the stairs since little Joeye will be crawling everywhere, perhaps even walking by the time he gets home. So much to do to prepare for a very lonely six months. Then again what's six months apart out of a whole lifetime we'll have together .. gotta look at the up side!
